What is thread lifting?

Thread Lifting is a minimally invasive procedure that uses biodegradable, absorbable lifting and smoothing threads for the temporary improvement of the appearance of skin laxity and/or texture (wrinkle reduction). In order to address both sagging skin and wrinkles, we often use the combination of NovaThreads (smoothing threads) and Silhouette InstaLift (lifting threads).

What are NovaThreads & Silhouette InstaLift threads?

NovaThreads (Cosmofrance) are composed of synthetic, absorbable polydioxanone (PDO). As the PDO threads degrade, they stimulate new collagen production. This leads to increase in skin tightening and smoothing of wrinkles.

Silhouette InstaLift threads (Sinclair) are composed of synthetic, absorbable poly lactic glycolic acid (PLGA) that incorporate cone technology to lift and tighten skin. As the thread degrades over time, it stimulates the production of collagen to further enhance skin tightening, smoothing and longevity.

What should I expect during my Thread Lift procedure?

Thread Lifting procedure itself involves the use of small amounts of injectable anesthesia (lidocaine), the use of a needle to make small self-healing holes in the skin and introducing a needle into the skin in order to place the absorbable thread. Depending on the area being treated and the number of threads used, the procedure can take 5 minutes to 45 minutes.

Is there downtime?

Downtime is minimal. However, since there are injections involved, there is always a risk of bruising and mild swelling.

How long will my Thread Lifting results last?

Since this procedure is considered a “Collagen Induction Treatment” or CIT, it will take up to 4-6 months to appreciate the full result. On average, your results can last 6-18 months depending on the area treated, number of threads used and the use of other anti-aging procedures and products.
